Media also is getting to be more modern, improved according to the demands of contemporary life and plays an important role in the improvement of society and democracy. It is undeniable need of professionalism of people working in this sphere considering the important role of media in spread of information getting transforming into a huge capital.
Deputy Chairman of the Observance Council of Fund of State Support for Development of Mass Media under Azerbaijani President, member of Executive Board of Media Council, editor-in-chief of “Iki sahil” newspaper, honored journalist Vugar Rahimzade told about it during respond to the question “which problems solved FSSDMM?” voiced by “SIA”
According to his sayings the main duty of mass media to supply the society with news happened in our country and in the world without distortion based on principles objectivity and reality. It is obvious that in the realization of this mission the main instrument of journalists is professionalism: “we see that though analytical analyses of events or analyses of relations to some events sometimes seems simple, but in a suitable time carries huge responsibility. From this side we can say that the media should be free, independent and the journalist should be professional”.
Expressing about the interest of Azerbaijan Government in the freedom of media V. Rahimzade indicated as a real evidence of it the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev containing “the conception of State Support for Development of Mass Media in Azerbaijan Republic” and added: “ According to this document the president of Azerbaijan Republic signed a decree about establishing Fund of State Support for Development of Mass Media under Azerbaijani President”.
The main focus of the foundation is improvement freedom of speech and freedom of information, support the independence of mass media, to spread partnership between society and mass media widely, to create relevant conditions to increase journalists’ professionalism and responsibility, to strengthen their social protection, to finalize programs, projects and other measures carrying special importance for the state and society, containing perfection of journalists’ professionalism and supporting their progress. It has been created equal conditions and opportunities for all representatives of mass media to use the financial support of the foundation. Competitions are being held and the best effective proposals are chosen for realization of intended projects.
