Television and radio broadcasting in Azerbaijan will be considered a type of activity requiring a special permit concerning the cases arising from the national security.
Draft amendments to the annexes #1 and 2 of the Law “On licenses and permits” were put to a vote and adopted at the parliament’s plenary session on Nov. 11.
According to the draft amendments, Article 7 (Activity of TV and radio broadcasting) shall be removed from the annex #1 (list of activities requiring a license). The article of the same name shall be included in the annex #2 (list of activities requiring a license concerning the cases arising from the national security).
Addressing the plenary session, Chairman of the Press Council, MP Aflatun Amashov said TV and radio broadcasting is a strategic field, and it would be proper to make amendments.
