Turkey needs presidential form of government – Erdogan

The presidential form of government is extremely necessary for Turkey, the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

He said the parliamentary form of government doesn’t meet the country’s needs, adding that the presidential system will strengthen Turkey, TRT Haber TV channel reported Apr.30.

Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu also said that the country’s moving to the presidential system is necessary, since the parliamentary system doesn’t meet Turkey’s interests.

Currently, the legislative power in Turkey belongs to the unicameral parliament – the Grand National Assembly.
