Russia goes 12 steps down because of the state of freedom of speech.

Russia is on the 153rd place due to the level of freedom of speech. According to the rate chart prepared by “Reporters without Borders” Russia held 141st place last year. It should be noted that the rate chart on the state of freedom of speech in the world countries is prepared by this organization every year. The main reason of Russia’s going down for 12 steps is the killing of journalist and law defenders. According to the information given by Russian press the report also stressed that press attacks against journalists were in continuation and government showed its helplessness in prevention of this process. According to the international organization “Reporters without Borders” some publications were banned and the censorship inclinations were increased in Russia.

In the rate chart Kazakhstan holds 142nd and Belarus 151st place. The first country in the rate chart is Denmark. Last year Island was in the first place. Now this country is in the 9th place.

According to the organization nowadays the freedom of speech is better implemented in Denmark, Finland and Ireland. As in the previous years Turkmenistan holds 173rd, Northern Korea 174th and Eritrea 175th place. The Secretary General of the organization Jean-François Julliard stated that he regretted that the situation in France, Italy and Slovakia was worsening year by year. After the presidency of Barack Obama the U.S.A. rose up from 40th to 20th place.
