Seminar-trainings of specialists from the Russian Federation on “Roles of Libraries in Solution of Ecological Problems” were held in 2007 and 2008 in the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Series of measures in this direction are going on. 2010 was declared “the Year of Ecology” under the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. An event on this subject took place on March 3 in the Central Library of Khachmaz region. Director of the Centralized Library System of Khachmaz region A. Alifkhanov opened the event. In his speech he noted that one should do one’s duty in protection of ecology and that libraries were responsible to do more things in this direction.
Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Husseingulu Bagirov’s book “The Antarctic Diary” was also presented in the event.
