Today, the roundtable has been held related to prepared project on amendments to Journalists’ Professional Behavior Rules, APA reports.
Delivering a speech at the event Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Press Council Aflatun Amashov said that the Council had prepared a project on amendments and annexes to Journalists’ Professional Behavior Rules.
Amashov noted that recently, the cases related to sexual harassment, juvenile suicides had increased in media: “That is why, the Press Council together with OSCE had prepared a new variant of Journalists’ Professional Behavior Rules. These amendments comprise the changes after March 18 referendum, presumption of innocence and etc.
The presentation of the new Journalists’ Professional Behavior Rules will take place on September 6.
APA’s Director General Vusala Mahirgizi called the Journalists’ Professional Behavior Rules as an important document. She noted that along with this, there was need to continue the project implemented by the Press Council some years ago. At the same time, she noted the importance of teaching of public relations at the journalism faculties.
Members of Council’s Management Staff Bakhtiyar Sadigov, Tapdig Abbas noted the importance of enaction of “Law on defamation”. Member of the Council Yunus Oghuz and others made suggestions about amendments and annexes.
