Kendzebaye’s colleagues link the attack to the journalist’s professional activity. “We think that such crimes are aimed to browbeat journalists and, as in case with journalist Sirgak Abdildayev, they are an attack against freedom of speech”, is said in the TV Company’s statement.
It should be reminded that the attack on the “Reporter-Bishkek” newspaper’s observer, Sirgak Abdildayev took place in the capital of Kyrgyzstan on 4 March. The journalist was struck about 30 knife wounds; however he survived after an operation and is in grave condition in one of the city hospitals. The case investigation is controlled personally by minister of interior of Kyrgyzstan, Moldomus Kongantiyev.
