The presentation ceremony of a book “Hasan bey Zardabi and “The Farmer”” published on the occasion of the 135-year anniversary of Azerbaijan national press was held. The book was co-prepared by the Aid Fund for Development of Civil Society in Azerbaijan and Freedom of Speech Protection Fund.
The edition includes Hasan bey Zardabi’s biography, the founder of the first national news paper of Azerbaijan titled “Əkinçi” (“The Farmer”), his role in the history of press, historical materials, researches reflecting the national renaissance and enlightenment activity. Besides it, the book features articles of Hasan bey Zardabi, memoirs of his wife Hanifa khanum Malikova, daughter Garibsoltan Malikova, son-in-law Alimardan bey Topchubashov about him.
The editorial board of the book includes a chief of Freedom of Speech Protection Fund, a poet Musa Yagub, the honoured journalist Tahir Aydinoglu, Vugar Tofigli and Nazirmammad Zohrably.
