Azerbaijan Free Speech Foundation held monitoring over the situation on renewal of information of Internet sites belonging to newspapers. We should note that monitoring covers the first decade of December.
The purpose of monitoring held by the employees of Azerbaijan Free Speech Foundation was to clarify the real situation over renewal of information on sites of newspapers. Because most mass medias existing in Azerbaijan have their own Internet sites. Those resources should make an opportunity to get new news in any time of the day, information for those who use these mass media.
And what is the real situation over the activity of the sites? Does the operativeness, design, information about the newspapers existing in the Information Century itself meets the modern demands?
Members of the collective hold a view over the Internet sites of the newspapers during the day along decade for clarifying these parameters. At 11.00, 13.00, 16.00, 18.30 – 19.00. Used Internet sites covers 31 newspapers.18 of them are daily newspapers and 13 of them are weekly newspapers.
It became obvious that, most of weekly newspapers after publish day locate the materials and wait until the next publish day. But 15% of them install “hot lines” and locate news in the Internet resources. This covers the minority. Nevertheless they have more opportunities to meet the readers through Internet resources along the week by time side.
But in the daily newspapers mechanism of work with Internet established in different order. So that 33% of them from 10.00-11.00 begin to locate the published new materials on site. Those are the materials published in that days. And after 13.00 rest 67% of media bodies locate the materials and this covers all daily newspapers. In this time already is being seemed on 18% of sites new unpublished information. During the held observation there was not considerable increase of count till the end of the day. Like as newspapers take caution over unpublished information to fall into other media hands they do not hurry to locate the materials on site. Information located on site mostly are about accidents and majority get information over those accidents from channels. And it not sufficient for meeting Internet users demands.
In the result of monitoring that also became clear that organisation of sites are in different order. In hear the design difference is clear. Because the taste of both the client and acceptors are different. From this side 35-40% of sites were estimated as high quality: “rest of them installed the Internet resources for not to lag behind”. Apparently, they will tackle over perfection of their sites, both from operativeness and design”.
In the report also noted that, in the result of the observation from the operativeness criteria 26% of Internet sites belonging to newspapers are normal, 34% are middle and 40% are weak.
Employees of Azerbaijan Free Speech Foundation -holding monitoring clarified that on the Internet sites of newspapers there is not sufficient information about the newspapers themselves: “In some of them there are a little bit but in others there is not any section about it. Nevertheless, the history of the newspaper, structure, adress, telephones and some information about its mission should be located on site and it is more purposeful”.
Azerbaijan Free Speech Foundation intends to hold analogic monitorings durable.
