Armenian side, however, states that the territories are populated with Armenians who lived in Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit before the conflict broke out. But nevertheless, the international humanitarian law unambiguously states the banning to settle in the occupied territory for those people who didn’t live there before, regardless their origin.
Armenians are making more active steps in Karabakh, in particular, they conducted the population census before the visit of the OSCE mission. We should note that none of the Azerbaijani mass media, excluding ANS TV channel and a number of independent newspapers, informs on the matter or they write between the lines. What is the role of the national mass media when Armenians are taking more active steps to legitimate the occupied territory of Azerbaijan? Are the events taking place in Nagorno-Karabakh covered adequately in our press? Secretary General of the Confederation of Azerbaijan Journalists Azer Hasrat said that though the theme of Karabakh is not fully covered by the national mass media, nevertheless, the majority of the publishing editions consider it a priority and very topical.
“It is just because of the existing different approaches to cover the problem and, this in its turn, proves the professional level of our journalists. We often observe the two way approach to the matter of the occupied territories, but this is undesirable,” he noted.
We have got accustomed to lose and we are losing now. We have lost the lands, which our forefathers left, and we remain behind Armenians in the informational war that the Azerbaijani mass media are responsible for, the activity of which could be better concerning this issue.
