“I consider that is not only concerning the radio stations but also about freedom of press. Why in such a rough way? Because media is a sphere with the largest number of problems. It is certain that they intend to close foreign radios in the country but the government of Azerbaijan has also problems with the domestic press. In the reports of international organizations they state on restrictions for freedom of press observed in Azerbaijan”, A. Herkel noted.
The PACE co-raporteur specified that banning the radios will have no effect. “I believe the issue will be reconsidered”, A. Herkel said.
To note, recently the NTVRC chairman Nushiravan Maharramli has stated about quit of foreign radios in January, 2009.
