According to chair of the Standing commission on human rights of the Milli Majlis, Rabiyat Aslanova and www.mediaforum.az, the “Amnesty act” draft bill implies setting free 9 thousand people, who committed minor crimes and those who served a part of their term, as well as those sentenced to conditional sentences, the fined and of other categories.
Earlier, the parliament passed the “Amnesty act” bill submitted by Mehriban Aliyeva in May 2007. That legislative initiative included 9 thousand people and concluded with the release of 1500 prisoners.
