There has been erected a memorial complex in memory of 20 January martyrs near the “20 January” underground. The memorial complex will be inaugurated on the 20th anniversary day of the January tragedy.
The total area of the complex is about 1400 sq. meters. The ground of the square round the memorial has been made of marble. Due to the project, there is a three-staged stairs in length of 17 meters in front of the complex. Sculptor Javanshir Dadashov has erected a magnificent monument in length of 8 meters including pedestal. Names of victims and injured people, as well as the speech of the national leader on bloody January “January 20, 1990 has entered into the history of Azerbaijan as one of the most tragic days and as a heroic page of history of our people” have been written on the complex in gold letters.
