The Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Council has clarified the issue concerning the activity of a new channel to be created in the near future.

The new channel will mainly cover developments occurring in the regions of the country, head of the National Council Nushirevan Maharramli told Trend on Wednesday.

He regretted that today TV channels pay little attention to the life in the regions.

The council announced a contest for the opening of the new channel. The decision was recently taken at a meeting of the council. The contest will cover the period from January 22 to February 22, 2014.
