Cuba hosts Days of Azerbaijani CultureThe Days of Azerbaijani Culture wrapped up in Cuba. The event took place at the same time with the 3rd meeting of Azerbaijan-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission, on March 3-6. A group including about 50 Azerbaijani art figures, press and technique delegation left for Cuba to attend the days of culture.
The cultural days featured performances of Azerbaijan Song Theatre, State Dance Ensemble, “Şərq çırağı” (“The Lamp of East”) children’s creative group, famous jazzman Isfar Rzayev Sarabski and his jazz group. A photo exhibition representing Azerbaijan and demonstration of national clothes was organized in the Jose Marti National Library in Havana.
The cinema “Infanta” in Havana demonstrated new Azerbaijani films such as “The 40th Door”, “Fate of the King” and “The Sentenced”.
The solemn opening ceremony of the cultural days attended by thousand spectators successfully took place at the Mella Theatre of Havana. The opening ceremony was attended by the Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cuba Agshin Mehtiyev, Azerbaijani representatives of Azerbaijan-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission, government officials of Cuba, leading figures of the ruling Communist Party, members of diplomatic corps and other officials. Besides Havana, Azerbaijani artists visited the Matanzas district of Cuba and performed there. In the Music Centre of Matanzas, Azerbaijani art figures performed folk dances for Cuban youth.
