A literary-art evening devoted to the 85th jubilee of prominent writer, playwright, publicist and poet Nabi Khazry was held at the Republic Art Gymnasium on February 9. Addressing the evening, People’s poet of Azerbaijan Nariman Hasanzadeh noted that Nabi Khazri’s love for sounds of plane tree, khazry (wind), waves made him to choose the pen-name “Khazry”.
Close friend of Nabi Khazry, People’s poet Sohrab Tahir said that N. Khazry was known as a lyrical poet not only in Azerbaijani literature but also in the East.
Relatives and colleagues of Nabi Khazry shared their reminiscences about him. Pieces from Nabi Khazry’s poems such as “Azerbaijan”, “Valleys”, “Ag chicheyim” (“My white flower”) were recited and songs composed to his poems were performed in the jubilee evening.
