Azerbaijan’s Press Council and Zardabi press center are monitoring the bodies and officials who do not give information to media, chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov told journalists, APA reports.
“We are on the first stage of the monitoring, the black list of the organizations and officials will be made public in December,” he said.
Asked about the arrest of bloggers Adnan Hajizadeh and Emin Milli, Aflatun Amashov said it mostly concerned electronic media.
“The Press Council mainly studies the problems of print media. Despite this, if the problem is serious, is generally connected with the freedom of expression and media in Azerbaijan, the Press Council carries out investigation concerning the issue and expresses its opinion. Investigation is being carried out, we will express our opinion soon,” he said.
To the question “Will you take an initiative for pardoning journalists Eynulla Fatullayev and Ganimat Zahid?” Amashov said they several times appealed to the pardon commission and related bodies concerning the release of the journalists.
“The leadership of the Press Council has recently visited the jails and met with the imprisoned journalists. Now, we are carrying out investigation. Discussions will probably be held concerning the pardoning of the journalists by the new year and appeals will be made to the related bodies,” he said.
