Editor of Pakistani Ittehad newspaper Tahir Farooq visited Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc) where he met its director general Aslan Aslanov on Nov. 11.
Aslanov informed Farooq of the history of AzerTAc which was founded by the Government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1920.
He also spoke of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev`s contribution to Azerbaijan`s development, saying his policy is today successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
“Reforms conducted over last few years allowed Azerbaijan to considerably strengthen its international profile and become the regional leader.”
He also touched upon nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev`s role improving AzerTAc`s work.
“Successes of the national leader-initiated policy open new opportunities for expanding AzerTAc`s international relations as well,” said Aslanov.
“Today AzerTAc is a member of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies and European Alliance of News Agencies. We are also one of the founders of the Black Sea Association of National News Agencies and the Union of the Turkish Speaking Countries News Agencies which we have been chairing since 2008,” said Aslanov.
On the Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations, Aslanov praised the Pakistani government`s support to his country on peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Farooq said the two nations have “deep” historic and traditional relations.
He noted Ittehad had published several news stories on Azerbaijan, recalling the article entitled “Public confidence on the President: Ilham Aliyev elected president for the second term”.
The editor stressed the importance of exchanging information to strengthen relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
He said his newspaper is interested in establishing relations with AzerTAc, and offered signing a memorandum of cooperation.
