On the night of 26 February, 1992 the Armenian armed groups supported by the 366th
Infantry Regiment of the former USSR, deployed in Khankendi, assaulted the unarmed and defenseless Khojaly town. Ancient Khojaly was razed to the ground for one night. The local people forced to leave the town escaped into the mountains and woods. Armenians shot peaceful population and mercilessly wiped them out far and wide. Thus many girls and women were taken prisoners and became hostages in a cold, snowy February night. Many civilians, who could escape from the Armenian arms into the woods and mountains, froze to death …
