Thus, on 14 February, 1956, “blue screens” lightened up in the flats of the capital’s inhabitants. After the first successful trial program, the Azerbaijani TV started broadcasting regularly. At the outset, they aired only news programs and movies, and then the programs appeared designed for the people of all ages and professions, telling about the many-sided life on the planet, country and native republic.
It is notable that the main functions of the AzTV are to interpret the state policy and propagandize it, to inform about the activity of head of state, as well as about economic and cultural life of the country.
