In essence, hearings will start already today. To note, on 17 November judge made a decision on open regime of sessions to be held on the case of murder of Politkovskaya as close people to the journalist as well as lawyers of the suspects had insisted.
Investigators demanded to hold a closed trial as there are some secret documents in the case materials. On the same day Anna Politkovskaya’s children issued a suit on indemnification of moral damage as RUB 10 mln. Judge considered the journalist’s children sufferers and took the suit to consideration.
Anna Politkovskaya was killed in October 2006 in the threshold to her house in St. Lesnaya in Moscow. Djabrayil and Ibrahim Makhmudovs became main figures on the case of murder of observer of “Novaya gazeta” as well as Sergey Khajikurbanov as investigators had considered them engaged. Perpetrator of the murder, considered Rustam Makhmudov by investigation, has escaped and is called to international search.
