Yuri and Angelina Aleksandrovs disappeared on 7 March, 2008. Several days later, a young roomer in the couple’s flat was detained over suspicion of implication in their disappearance. Kazakbayev confessed during the inquest that he had killed the journalist and his wife and hid their bodies in a Bishkek suburb in his parents’ cellar.
Shortly after, the corpses of the Aleksandrovs were found with chopped wounds.
Kazakbayev is known to be 23 years old, he is a candidate to master of sports in boxing and has a wife and one child. Kirghiz law enforcement bodies assert that the young man wasn’t linked with criminals. As for the reasons that the young man had killed his landlords, the court named hostile relations as a crime motive.
