The suit has been filed by the Association’s chairman, one of the leaders of People’s Front Party of Azerbaijan, Tahmasib Novruzov protesting against the present composition of the editorial staff, as “Azadlig” newspaper was founded by members of People’s Front Party, including himself.
He demands restitution of the founder rights of Peoples’ Front Party of Azerbaijan to the newspaper. During the meeting the suitor’s lawyer, Ogtay Avazoglu noted the importance of taking the suit for execution and read out the point of suit. General director of “Azadlig”, Azar Ahmadov asked the judge not to take the suit for execution. Thereafter, the judge suggested that the parties make amends, but they refused. After debates, the bench decided to execute the suit.
The next following trial is scheduled to July 25. Photographing and video filming is prohibited at the trial.
