As the RAI management stated on Thursday, Benedict XVI will open the TV marathon on 5 October with reading Genesis – the first book of the Old Testament. Not only followers of the Christian religion but also representatives of other confessions will read out extracts from the Bible on the RAI radio all days and nights during seven days.
RAI representatives stressed that reading of the Bible on TV will not be accompanied with comments that proved approval of the head of the Roman-Catholic church.
