The Tribune Co. – the owner of both newspapers is carrying out wide-scale reforms in order to cope with the decrease of the editions’ profitability. Thus, as was informed earlier, the owners of the Los Angeles Times intended to dismiss 250 employees because of the decrease of profits of the edition caused by drop of the advertisement space sold. Besides, with time, they are planning to shorten the daily edition down to 15 percent.
They do not inform on the reasons of Hiller’s resignation. He published the LA Times for about two years, and in his time, the newspaper changed the chief editor twice. It is not known yet who will replace him on the publisher position.
