Amnesty International awards killed Iraqi woman journalistAl-Haideri was killed after the independent international organization of journalists – the Institute of War and Peace (IWPR) published her article about so-called ‘killings for honor’. Such killings are practiced in Muslim families where women “abusing” their parents and relatives with their behavior are mostly victims.
After the article release in Iraq, al-Haideri was threatened at least 15 times with killing. Finally, she was killed by unknown people in her house in Mosul which is the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan.
